Activity and Function of the Cell
- COMMUNITY HEALTH CARE MANAGEMENT INITIATIVE (CHCMI) supported by State budget head under P&RD-CHCMI is not just another health scheme. The main objective of this programme is to build awareness among common people about Promotive & Preventive health care & make people aware about the fact which is also the motto of the programme "Community's health in Community's Hands". The Programme is an amalgamated service of the Department of Health & Family Welfare & the Social Welfare Department (ICDS) guided by P.R.I. bodies. The programme aims at involving members of the Panchayati Raj Institute at the Zilla Parishad level, Panchayat Samity level & Gram Panchayat level in day-to-day health care system and know the condition of the area under their jurisdiction. The programme mainly aims at 'mother and child health' and its betterment in future in the rural areas. The success of the programme lies in proper coordination among the various service providers, Panchayati Raj Institutions and community members.

Achievements
- 4th Saturday meeting at Gram Panchayat has been regularized.
- All Panchachayat Samity have started monitoring of 4th Saturday meeting.
- Seven GPs have volunteered for special drive on the following issues to make themselves model GPs, within 6 month time (Starting from Jan 2012).
- Complete immunization
- Complete Eradication of malnutrition
- Ensure institutional delivery
- Complete Sanitation
- Building up positive health habits
- Sharing of data on birth, death & pregnancy
- Developing a Marriage Information Register

Special initiatives taken by the Gram Panchayet and Gram Unnayan Samities.
- GP Bodai of Amdanga Block is contemplating to grow vegetables as a part of nutrition programme, by dovetailing –
- MGNREGA fund for IBS, as special initiatives
- Untied fund
- Around 50 GPs have provided furniture to Health Sub-centres and for outreach camps.
- Around 100 GPs have distributed soap, bucket, and mug in ICDS centres / Pry schools / SSKs / MSKs.
- Polythene sheds to many ICDS centres have been provided to prevent open cooking.
- Wall writing mainly through SHGs have been done.
- Completed base line survey in Rural North
Future Action Plan
- Refresher training of Prodhan, Swasthya sanchalok, Health Supervisor and ANM with target to orient VHSNC members .
- Special Programme has been taken to mitigate moderate malnourish children through Panchayat initiative.
- Involve medical officer in health check up of malnourished children in ICDS centre/ MGNREGA work site and SHGs women.
- As per order of Principal Secretary, H&FW, Govt. of W.B, Initiatives has been taken with PHFI (a NGO) for effective use of data generated in 4th Saturday meeting and initiation of VHSNC tracking register.
- Refresher TOT training of VHSNC
